Authorities say a Friday medical exam of an inmate suspected of hiding a pistol in his rectum found no signs of injury.Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown told The Daily News Saturday that it has not been confirmed if Michael Leon Ward, 22, of Canton, Ga., snuck the gun into the Onslow County Jail as a search warrant and a sheriff's office press release indicated.“I don’t know if they could verify it or not; there was no damage. We did not take him there for verification, only to find out if he had injuries,” Brown said.Onslow Memorial Hospital staff declined to comment.Ward was placed in the Onslow County Jail Monday morning by the North Carolina Highway Patrol after allegedly passing a trooper at 90 mph on U.S. 17 and resisting arrest.While behind bars, Ward alerted jailers to a .38-caliber pistol he said he found in his bunk and subsequently threw into the toilet. There were no bullets in the gun and none were found in the cell, according to the OCSO.How the gun ended up in Ward’s cell remains under investigation, Brown said.Brown told The Daily News that detainees and inmates are subject to pat downs to determine if they have a weapon and strip searches if they are to be sent to a cell block.“Every procedure necessary was followed,” he said.Ward was initially searched by the trooper upon arrest and by Onslow County deputies during the booking process at the Onslow County Jail, according to a Friday news release from the sheriff’s office.He was then strip searched prior to being placed into a cell block, Brown said.The jail has metal detecting wands that Brown said are not typically used in conjunction with a strip search.“I don’t know if metal wands were used (on Ward) since he was strip searched; it would not be an issue there,” he said. “Normally they are used when an inmate has clothing on.”He said his office is exploring the possibility of installing a body scan detector for the new jail facility, which would determine if anything were hidden in a body cavity.Currently a search warrant is necessary for a body cavity search, Brown said.“That’s what we did in this case,” he said.Ward is currently being held in Onslow County Jail without bond awaiting extradition to Georgia where he is wanted in connection to an October homicide. He was charged late Thursday night with murder and armed robbery by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, using fugitive warrants from Georgia. Ward has also been charged by the OCSO with lying about his identity, resisting a public officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance. He has been charged by the Highway Patrol with driving while impaired, speeding, unlawful passing of an emergency vehicle, reckless driving to endanger the public, resisting a public officer, providing fictitious information and no operators license.No charges related to possession of the gun at the jail had been filed as of Saturday.Brown said the sheriff’s office investigation is ongoing.

This is a picture of a Korean owned Liquor store in West Philly

It has a new "security box" that I note is standard now in the area.

I get the funny feeling that the local "Korean Merchants Association" defined this new security box.

The customer portal is encased in a box made out of bullet proof glass. You put your money into the box via the standard opening in the main glass that covers the entire front.

The merchant has an opening in the glass that she can reach in, retrieve the money.

After retrieving the money she can place the merchandise inside of the security box and slide it down to the customer for retrieval

The Box is long enough so that no pistol or shot gun stuck into the opening could be aimed at the retailer. If a person were to stick their arm and gun into the box - with their body remaining outside - the retailer could easily grab the gun out of his hand - there is no way to reach around the box without making one's arm vulnerable in this way.

I still wonder - however - since the box is made out of plexiglass and has screws holding the sides together - if someone fired a few well placed shots - could they blast the back end of the box off and then have free aim at the retailer - regardless of if she went right or left?

Needless today - this security technique stands out as unique to the "City of Brotherly Love"

Club Owner Sentenced For Hoarding $12 Without Paying Taxes

CHICAGO — A prominent Chicago-area strip club owner found with $12 million in cash has been sentenced to a year in prison for tax crimes.

A tearful Michael Wellek of Libertyville told a federal judge Friday that he took full responsibility for his actions. He'd faced a maximum sentence of six years.

Internal Revenue Service agents raided a warehouse near one club in 2003 and confiscated $12 million in cash stuffed in bags and boxes. Wellek argued in a 2004 lawsuit that he was holding the cash until he could count it.

Please note - the movement that was to be called the "Bullet Proof Glass Equity Project" has been more accurately renamed into the "Corporate Premise Security Equality Project".
Upon a second visit to the offending location I reached up under the cut out through which equipment is exchanged and noted that it was too thin to be bullet proof. An AK47 from a Street Pirate would easily shatter the glass.

Clearly the glass barrier is there to defend against irate customers who seek to "cuss out" the customer service reps as they act out against the corporation who cut off their paid television service. Since the cable boxes are directly addressable (per my difficulty in getting my unit provisioned and thus the multiple trips) they can CUT YOU OFF instantly when you don't pay your bill.

Anyone wanting to punch, throw the equipment at or spit upon the customer service agent has to go through the plexiglass and the talking vent in order to do so.

Per my research this is not about RACE but it is about CLASS.

There were Black, White and Hispanic people at both locations, both times I went to both locations.
It is true, however that Fayette County Georgia has a wealthier income profile than does its neighboring Clayton County to the north. Fayette is rapidly diversifying as the famed "Black Flight Progressives" move into town, mostly to consume the quality schools and to obtain stability in home values.

The demographic maps brought to us by the New York Times bears this out.

I could not content myself into believing that "' Those People' have plexiglass and they just need to deal with it". As is plainly the case - both locations are convenient to where I live and thus I am "disrespected" with the sight of security devices just like these other people when I happen to drive EAST instead of WEST.

The corporations that do business in an array of areas should be made to have one consistent security policy so that people like ME who happen to drive to a variety of their locations don't notice the discriminatory inconsistencies and call them out.

I wonder if the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission should force these corporations to keep a log of violent actions by customers on a per location basis as a means of JUSTIFYING this "Class Profiling" that is clearly present?

This is a true story. Seasoned with the sarcasm that "The Parallel Hood" brings to you.
The newly purchased television equipment for my children's rooms triggered the need for more cable television equipment for my house. I chose to do an equipment pick up and self install from the local cable company instead of waiting for a service man to come out.
I chose to go to the facility in Clayton County Georgia because it was more in line with my planned to-do list for the day than was their facility in Fayette County Georgia, to the west.

I went to the cable customer service office in Clayton County. It was in an office park and had about 10 customers in line. The most distinctive feature of the location was the glass window barriers between customers and the customer service agents. They had a large inventory of electronic set top boxes and DVRs so it makes sense to have some measure of security protection was my thoughts upon my visit.
As the service agent pulled up my account they noted that I still had some equipment that had not been turned in on my account and thus the new equipment would trigger a monthly charge. I recalled that I did have two boxes old boxes in my basement and that I would accept the new equipment and then bring the old boxes back.

On my return trip I saw on my GPS that the Fayette County Office was actually closer. I decided to drop off my equipment there instead of Clayton County.
Hey wait a minute. There is something different about this office than the other one?

They too have an inventory room full of set-top boxes and DVR
They actually had less display items such as televisions in the waiting area to showcase the company's products than did the Clayton office
The Fayette office had one less customer service agent than did the Clayton office

Something is different still.
Oh I know: PLEXIGLASS!!!!!

The office in Clayton County had a glass barrier between the customers and the customer service agents. It had signs notifying the customers that all of their actions were being monitored by closed circuit television.

The office in Fayette County had open teller stations allowing direct interaction between the two.

We must demand to know immediately:

Is there some security threat assumed in the population of consumers at the "lower income class" location than the other?
Has there been some documented actions in the past in which corporate employees or valuable electronic equipment has been placed at risk for assault or theft?
Does the corporation in question believe that the presence of security barriers sends a message to the consumers?

Please note this as the kick off of the: "Bullet Proof Glass Equity Project"

Every corporation that has a presence in areas with differentiated class profiles must ensure that all locations have a common set of security devices.

The presence of barriers placed between the people and the service agents appears to be conditioning the people to get used to talking to their loved ones behind prison walls.

I get the feeling that one day in the future as TI is rendered into the annals of rap history the tale of his drug addiction will be modified from an issue of tooth decay and the resulting addiction to oxycontin per his dental plan over to having been shot in a gangsta gun fight while "representing" and needing drugs to relive the pain from the bullet that remains in his body.

In his last magazine interview before going to jail Clifford T.I. Harris speaks candidly on his prescription drug addiction.

“I had a lot of work done to my teeth. Oral surgery, extractions, six, seven, eight root canals,” he tells Erik Parker for Vibe magazine. “Between January to February. As soon as I got out, I had a lot of stuff done. In the joint, you eat shit that is unhealthy for you. I had fillings that fell out and stuff that had to get dealt with. Of course for the pain they gave me oxycontin and hydrocodone. And, mind you, on October 13, 2007, I had cut off everything―weed, alcohol. Then I get these pills and I start taking them for the pain at first. And then I’m like, Wait―this shit makes me feel good. And it’s legal. After the pain went away, I kept taking it. I had like five, six prescriptions. So I had, like 80 pills. Everybody else might have a drink or smoke a blunt, I took a pain pill. Times when I had 18-, 20-hour days, I’d take a pain pill. And eventually I developed―I guess―the beginning stages of dependence.”

When it comes to making note of a beautiful woman with a great personality race is no barrier to me in identifying them. Former CBS Atlanta on air personality Dagmar Midcap was in that category. She has a bubbly personality which allowed her to expand beyond the job of delivering the weather over to becoming the "mascot" for the station. (OK - in my own estimation).

When she announced that she was leaving the station for personal reasons I figured that this was a terminal decision for the station. (Her boyfriend had committed suicide in the ATL and being in the city was too painful to her). She is to be credited because her on the air presence never gave hint of any personal drama. She remained as her normal perky self throughout.

Markina Brown stepped in to the job with big shoes to fill.
I later learned that Markina Brown is a trained meteorologist, unlike her predecessor. She is able to do the analysis that had required a "two man" format in the past.

For some reason though I hadn't been fully sold on Markina Brown UNTIL I saw this video below. There is something about that dress and how she fills it out in the right places that has me more interested in watching the weather report.

NEW YORK — Looking to debunk a report that Microsoft's new motion-sensing video game controller might be racist, Consumer Reports says it found no evidence that Kinect has problems recognizing users with darker skin.
GameSpot, a popular video game website, said earlier it found through testing Kinect that its facial recognition camera system did not work properly for some players with darker skin.
Consumer Reports said Thursday the problem is related to low-level lighting, and not directly to players' skin color. But while the animated rapper remains busy, she is also anticipating Lil Wayne's release from prison. In a recent radio interview, Minaj spoke about her mentor and why she feels the need to make Pink Friday a success.

"Can you only imagine what he's been holding and what's building up in that brain?" Minaj asked Greg Street of Atlanta radio station V-103. "I'm afraid for anybody ... any of his competition when he gets out, because I just feel like it's going to be monumental. He's in a great state. When I speak to him, he sounds like he has some sort of clear understanding of everything now, almost like he's had some weird sort of epiphany since he's been there, so I'm sure his stuff is only going to get better."

When Lil Wayne left for prison, Minaj realized just how much he meant to his rap crew. "He didn't deserve to go in the first place, and it's kind of crazy how much of a void it's been without him," she said. "We didn't realize Wayne is really the glue that holds Young Money and Cash Money together, I feel. I'm just very, very thankful that he's finally coming home."

The 25-year-old MC is ready for the whole Young Money crew to take over the rap game. "We're just really, really hard workers, and you know what? At some point, I would hope the hard work pays off, at least on my end," she said. "It's definitely already paid off for Wayne and for Drake, so I want to thank everybody for supporting Young Money, period."

So what happens if the New York native falters with her debut album? "They won't look to sign other female rappers if the project doesn't do well, because they're going to say, 'Well, her buzz was so crazy, and if she couldn't do it, then no one can do it,' and I don't want that to happen. So I'm doing this as well for all the girls."

The Young Money darling is staying positive as she hopes to pave the way for the females to come in the rap game. "I hope it will open doors for all girls everywhere who ever wanted to pick up a mic and rap and who have been kind of afraid to do it," she said. "For a long time in my life, I was afraid to be a solo female rapper, because everyone told me, 'It doesn't work. It's not going to happen. Record companies are never going to invest in you just to get it. Just be part of a group.' "

Nonetheless, Minaj values her pre-album success, saying, "Even as far as I've come now is already a testament in my mind, so I hope the female rappers understand how big it is for our culture that the album does well."

This is a true story.

Last summer as I was driving home from the office a White woman ran into me. On a three lane road I had the outside lane, she was turning left, coming from the opposite direction. With the two inside lanes going my way stopped at a traffic light the other drivers signaled her to turn but she failed to consider the 3rd lane that I was in.

As I drove past the hotel entrance that she was trying to turn into she broadsided my car, damaging my front bumper and my left front quarter panel.

I was not angry. She had insurance. No injuries, my car was going to be fixed.

A few weeks ago as I am stationary at the exit of a shopping center, about to turn left a little White girl in a Scion turns right from the main road and slams into my truck. She puts a dent in my two left side doors and my rear quarter panel.

I did not yell at her. She had insurance.

She claimed that she made too wide of a turn and did not see me.

The day before yesterday I called a local body shop to schedule an appointment so that I can get a repair estimate. A White woman answered the phone but told me that she did not have an opening till 3 days from now. I told her that this was too long of a wait, hinting that I would go elsewhere. She told me that she could squeeze me in at 4pm the next day (yesterday).

When I showed up at the agreed upon time the same elderly White lady who had taken my appointment told me that I was not in the system. She then told me that I might have to come back tomorrow.

After seeing a bit of perturbness on my face she said - "Oh, Daniel is finished, let me have him take a look at your vehicle.

In keeping with the theme of this blog - this must be labeled as: A REVERSE - THEY DIDN'T KNOW THAT I WAS A BLACK MAN ON THE PHONE AND WHEN THEY SAW ME IN PERSON - THEY ACTED FUNNY.

There is no doubt that she knew that she was talking to a Black man on the phone. No one would ever mistake me as a White man.

After she took down my information again we had some small talk. I saw that the was a nice, elderly woman. Someone's grandmother.

I saw that anger at the failure to schedule an appointment would not have been the best solution. (Note - again I did not get angry - I made an expression that showed that it was unacceptable for me to have done my part as a customer and they fell through with theirs).

I then told her the story about how: "In the past 12 months 2 women have crashed into me".
She asked "Are you trying to say something about female drivers? I tell you what during lunch time I saw a man cut across 3 lanes of traffic, nearly causing an accident so that he could make a left turn. My car almost was in the body shop just like yours".

She turned out to be a pleasant "White lady".

Since she was not the "White Women" that had crashed into me - I decided not to hold the actions of these other two "White women" against her.

Now I must get over my fear at seeing "White women" behind the wheel of a car as they approach my way.

OXFORD, Ohio — Sorority spring formals call up visions of young women in colorful dresses dancing the night away — not vomiting on tables, urinating in sinks or having sex in closets.
The drunken shenanigans of three sororities at Miami University in southwest Ohio sound like something out of "Animal House" and were especially startling for a school that frequently makes the top 50 in a U.S News & World Report academic ranking but never makes lists of big-time party schools.
The school suspended two of the sororities and put the third on probation. A task force is reviewing discipline and education policies on student behavior and alcohol, and the campus group governing sororities says it will begin teaching new members to speak out when they witness bad behavior.
There is little evidence excessive alcohol consumption is any worse at Miami than other colleges, but students are worried the antics will damage the school's reputation.
"It's embarrassing," said Christina Zielke, 21, a senior from Cleveland, who doesn't belong to a sorority. "This kind of thing gives a bad name not just to the Greek system but to the university and students like me who aren't in the system."
Students also are worried the debauchery could even devalue a Miami diploma, said Heath Ingram, student government president.
"They're angry about the actions of a few damaging Miami's reputation and the effect that might have on getting into the best graduate programs and job opportunities," he said.

A grim report prepared by the Russian Northern Fleet for Prime Minister Putin is stating today that the catastrophic earthquake that has devastated the Island of Haiti was the ‘clear result’ of a United States Navy test of one of its ‘earthquake weapons’ planned to be used by the Americans upon the Persian Nation of Iran but had gone ‘horribly wrong’.
The Northern Fleet has been monitoring US Naval movements and activities in the Caribbean since 2008 when the Americans announced their intention to re-establish their Forth Fleet that had been disbanded in 1950, and which was responded to by the Motherland when later that year a Russian flotilla led by nuclear powered cruiser Peter the Great began their first exercises in this region since the ending of the Cold War.
Though virtually unknown to the American people, the use, and perfection, of earthquake weapon technology has a decade’s long history that began with the former Soviet Unions exploding of a 10 megaton nuclear bomb in September, 1978 and then ‘redirecting’ its shockwave towards Iran where it resulted in a catastrophic 7.4 magnitude earthquake, an event which hastened the downfall of the US backed regime headed by the Shah.
This attack upon Iran by the Soviets was countered by the Americans in April, 1979 when they unleashed one of their newly developed ‘atomic powered’ earthquake weapons against the former communist Nation of Yugoslavia which resulted in a 7.2 magnitude earthquake.
Since the late 1970’s, the United States has ‘greatly advanced’ the state of its earthquake weapons and, according to these reports, now employees devices employing a Tesla Electromagnetic Pulse, Plasma and Sonic technology, along with ‘shockwave bombs’ they have previously been accused by Russia of employing in their war against the Afghan peoples when one of these ‘devices’ was exploded in Afghanistan in March, 2002 triggering a devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake.
Interesting to note in these reports are their stating that the earthquake weapons test conducted by the US Navy this week in the Caribbean that destroyed Haiti was ‘most probably’ based upon the same type of Tesla technology held responsible for the catastrophic January17, 1995, 6.8 magnitude earthquake that laid to waste the Japanese city of Kobe, and which the mysterious Aum Shinrikyo cult had warned 9 days prior was going to occur, and as we can read:
“Aum’s charismatic guru, Shoko Asahara, predicted the Kobe quake nine days before the event. In an 8 January 1995 radio broadcast, Asahara stated “Japan will be attacked by an earthquake in 1995. The most likely place is Kobe.” Hideo Murai, the late Science and Technology minister for Aum Shinrikyo also adhered to this view. Murai - said to have been the most intelligent Japanese who ever lived - was murdered in a Yakuza orchestrated assassination shortly after speaking on the record to foreign news correspondents.
“Murai presented his allegation in an April 7 1995 news conference at the Foreign Correspondent Club in Japan. In answer to questions about the Kobe quake, Murai said “There is a strong possibility of the activation of an earthquake using electromagnetic power, or somebody may have used a device that applied force inside the Earth.” The Aum leadership believed the Kobe quake an act of war: “The City of Kobe was hit by a surprise attack…” they claimed, adding the City was an “…appropriate guinea pig.”
Note: The Aum Shinrikyo religious order was destroyed shortly after their releasing of this information to the public when blamed for the March 20, 1995 sarin gas attack upon the Tokyo subway system which resulted in 11 of their members, including their leader, being sentenced to death. FSB reports on Aum Shinrikyo further state that their knowledge of the planned use of these ‘doomsday’ devices was gained from the US computer hackers belonging to the Branch Davidian religious order who had penetrated some of the American defense establishments most secret files and resulted in their, likewise, being completely destroyed in what is now known as the Waco Siege ordered by then US District Attorney, and currently Obama’s US Attorney General, Eric Holder.
The Tesla weapons being developed by the United States are based upon the research of Nikola Tesla who was an inventor and a mechanical and electrical engineer. He was one of the most important contributors to the birth of commercial electricity and is best known for his many revolutionary developments in the field of electromagnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Tesla's patents and theoretical work formed the basis of modern alternating current (AC) electric power systems, including the polyphase system of electrical distribution and the AC motor, with which he helped usher in the Second Industrial Revolution. Tesla is also credited as the inventor of modern radio by the US Supreme Court.
To Tesla’s earthquake weapons research conducted in the early 20th century we can further read:
“He put his little vibrator in his coat-pocket and went out to hunt a half-erected steel building. Down in the Wall Street district, he found one; ten stories of steel framework without a brick or a stone laid around it. He clamped the vibrator to one of the beams, and fussed with the adjustment until he got it.
Tesla said finally the structure began to creak and weave and the steel-workers came to the ground panic-stricken, believing that there had been an earthquake. Police were called out. Tesla put the vibrator in his pocket and went away. Ten minutes more and he could have laid the building in the street. And, with the same vibrator he could have dropped the Brooklyn Bridge into the East River in less than an hour.
Tesla claimed the device, properly modified, could be used to map underground deposits of oil. A vibration sent through the earth returns an “echo signature” using the same principle as sonar. This idea was actually adapted for use by the petroleum industry, and is used today in a modified form with devices used to locate objects at archaeological digs.”
Important to note at this point are that modern day experiments seeking to discredit Tesla’s earthquake weapons technology have been directed against structures designed to withstand the effects of earthquakes, buildings which in the early 20th century, like those in Haiti today, were not built to withstand such resonance. A most critical difference when viewed in the light of the US Navy’s testing of 2 of these earthquake weapons this past week and where in their Pacific test it resulted in a 6.5 magnitude earthquake hitting the area around the Northern California city of Eureka causing no deaths, their Caribbean test has caused an estimated 500,000 innocents to die.
Equally important to note are these reports stating that ‘more than likely’ the US Navy had ‘full knowledge’ of the catastrophic damage this earthquake weapons test could potentially have upon Haiti and had pre-positioned their Deputy Commander of their Southern Command, General P.K. Keen, on the island to oversee relief efforts if needed.
To the end result of these weapons being tested by the United States , these reports warn, are for the Americans planned destruction of Iran through a series of catastrophic earthquakes designed to bring down their present Islamic regime.
Most unfortunately in all of these events are the peoples of Haiti, who are suffering under conditions so horrible, that even in the best of scenarios, their functioning as a viable Nation has completely come to an end, and for reasons and purposes they have no comprehension of at all as they have become just the latest victim in the New Great Game that will decide the winners and losers of this 21st Century.

I agreed help my niece out by having my kids fill out this "Flat Stanley" exercise.

As best that I can tell - elementary school children send out "Flat Stanley" to their friends in other cities. The receiver is required to go someplace unique to their city and take a picture of it with "Flat Stanley" in the background. Then they send it back to the originating kid.

This to me appears to be a case of "Hidden Racism". I mean this character "Flat Stanley" is a White kid. During this exercise he will be given the opportunity to fly on jets - per the US Postal service. He will likely be taken to some of the local sites that are attractive to tourists that little kids trapped in the ghetto will never be taken to.

In this "age of Obama" I make the case that we need to have a choice of characters that kids send out:

* "Slim Sammy" - a Black character
* "Bulimic Betty" - a female character
* "Sweet Scotty" - the gay - gender mis-assigned little boy
